WCDC is involved in the successful empowerment of its community members through a number of outreach services
We engage in a number of programs and services across various
sectors, including housing development and counseling, community outreach, leadership
development and civic engagement. The programs and services in which member organizations
are most likely to be engaged are community outreach, job training, family services (including
ministry) and youth development. Five of the twelve are also engaged in housing development,
and three are engaged in small business development.
8 WCDC members providing job training and placement services reported a total of 4,895
clients, with 4,254 completing the program, with an 87% completion rate. Of this number, 1,265,
or 29.7%, were placed in permanent jobs. The average hourly wage was $10.83, which translates
into annual compensation of $21,660. It should be noted that a significant number of the clients
are formerly-incarcerated individuals, and others who have challenges finding employment.
